Garden Care

Mower and Tool Care

C

Ensure that you clean each tool after use and that you lightly oil any accessible moving parts. This will ensure that the tool is in good order for when you next want to use it.

At the conclusion of the cutting season, give your mower or other garden tool a thorough clean. This will include:

1. Removing dried grass from the blades and decks of mowers.
2. Cleaning any debris from shredders.
3. Oil blades and shredding mechanisms.
4. Check and replace any damaged electrical cables on electric powered tools.

For winter storage, you should:

1. Drain the oil from your lawnmower to prevent sludging.
2. Periodically circulate oil through a petrol engine by a few pulls on the pull starting rope (with spark plug removed).
3. Mower batteries should be removed, fully charged and stored upright in a cool place. A periodic top up charge will keep it in good shape.

As the new season approaches, check each tool for any damage and replace any damaged cables etc.

You should always refer to the instruction manual for full details of the care and maintenance requirements of your particular tool.

Winter is the perfect time to get your equipment professionally serviced or sharpened. LAWNBLADE will be able to conduct a full service on your lawnmower at a very competitive rate and replace any worn parts.
